The Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage is the upgrade for the Raider CS-35. Even though its drum capacity has been reduced from 35 darts to 25 darts, Hasbro have made significant improvements. It’s a power packed model with a lot of impressive things. At the present moment it is one of the best Nerf guns out there and we have for you a detailed Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage review.
Design and Ergonomics
The design of this gun is splendid. It has beautiful colours which look vibrant and stylish. There is not much going around with the branding and it’s quite subtle. It has a jam door on the right which can be accessed once it is cocked back. You can easily attach the 25 dart drum barrel which is significantly smaller than the one used in the Raider. It is lighter than before and you can attach it to the gun with the help of a barrel holder. You can also use the 35 dart barrel from the Raider. We were quite happy with the barrel design, it’s transparent from the back which allows the user to see the darts. The only thing that is lacking is the sighter, but that is just nit picking.
The handle is excellent. You can grip it nicely and even though it has a huge drum the weight seemed fairly balanced. To operate the gun there is a cocking mechanism which requires you to pull the handle. So you will be holding this with your hand. It also has a decent grip too and overall Hasbro got it right with ergonomics of the Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage.
Use and Performance
You can fire darts from Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage Blaster in two modes, the Single fire Mode and the amazing Slam-Fire Mode. The cocking action is pretty simple, you pull back the handle and then push it back. Then you pull the trigger to fire the darts. This is the single fire mode. The Slam Fire mode is way more fun. Simply hold the trigger and repeat the same action with the handle. This will launch a flurry of darts. This can be quite efficient in a combat situation and especially because you have 25 darts which are more than enough. There is also a secret place to hide one dart in the handle. The cocking action is quite smooth, which is a huge improvement for its predecessor. The darts also rarely jam. You can also use the standard 18 dart clip in case you don’t want the drum.
The next thing that is exciting about the Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage is its range. Hasbro has significantly improved it from that of the Raider, partly because they have introduced the new direct plunger system in the gun. We were easily able to get ranges exceeding 45 feet, with the gun parallel to the ground. At a small angle, you will see the darts going further, we managed to reach 70 feet. This is just short of the advertised 75 feet, but it is really good, and we have nothing to complain. The accuracy is one best by any Nerf product. However it varies a little in Slam Fire mode. You can easily fire 3 darts per second with this model.
Overall its performance is exceptional, there is very little to complain.
How much does it cost?
You can get the Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage Blaster for about $27.99. It’s a product of elite series with some solid features. It has great ammo capacity, awesome range, solid built and an iconic design. With all this, 27$ is not that much to pay. Unlike the Raider, we experienced significantly less jamming issues and this Nerf product is a must in your collection.
The Final Verdict!
The Nerf Raider was a flagship product, but the Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage is a kind of middle child. But that does not take anything away from it. It has a great design and built quality. The accuracy of the darts is unreal. And the range is great. You get to play with the amazing slam fire mode, which without a doubt will make the kids fall in love with this one. The darts you get are also elite. The only Con that you can say the Nerf N-Strike Elite Rampage has is its reloading time. But this is fairly insignificant and considering the price, Hasbro provides great value with this model. We give it 8.5 stars out of 10.
